How to play World of warcraft for Free !

Step I - Download client program and patches

First, you need to collect a few files that will install and patch the game to the latest version. Create a folder on your desktop to store them in. The first 2 are small downloaders that connect to Blizzard's mirrors and download the full clients.

Step 2
Install them in the order they are listed. Delete the folder on your desktop or pass it on to a friend.

Step 3
Find a good private server to play on. Few usefull links for a list of private servers:

Then register and create an wow account for you. The user name and password you choose will be used to login to the game.

*** I have tried several servers and found out that most of the servers on the top are just crap. Here are not so popular but decsent servers :

You can access their private server without using their launcher, but you have to do extra work by editing a file inside of your game folder. Instructions here:

1. Go to your wow installation folder. There is a file named "realmlist.wtf"
2. Open that file with notepad(any text editor) then delete everything inside and type type this as first line
set realmlist masterroot.de
( above is the address of the private server I am using atm. You can insert other server if u want )
Tip: Delete you Cache and WTF folder for the best Gameplay experience (optional).


Now that your realmlist is done, open World of Warcraft using the WOW.exe. Also add a shortcut to the WoW.exe to your desktop
Note - It is recommended to use wow.exe instead of launcher program.

Ok thats it now u can play wow for free!!!

Note : I have not mentioned about the Wrath of the lich king supported servers since almost all of them are very unstable and buggy like hell at the moment. On the other hand TBC servers are becoming more less bugged and blizzlike.

yea it takes some time to download and patch. But it's worth cuz the game is so cool and addictive. You can either chose to play in a more blizzlike envoronment ( Slow leveling, more grinding and more group activity) or start the game in full level 70 in a fun server( I like the old blizz though). I usually play on a blizzlike server and have a level 29 paladin there.( Alliance ) If you guys feel like playing wow pls post details so that we form some kind of community there. Btw I joined Elakiri recently and It certainly ROX.

Not sure these dayz. I saw a wow DVD in a software shop in nugegoda a while ago.But you don't have to buy wow cuz it can be downloaded free from Blizzard. You have to pay a monthly bill for playing if you go retail.

Macho race/class combination completely depend on your taste and style of playing. There is this horde/ally factions split no one is bad guy. I chose to play ally cuz I liked them from the original wc3. Some races have slight advantages (racial bonuses) but it becomes negligible when u high level.

There are melee classes Warrior - good for tanking and spanking, Paladin - Offensive support can withstand heavy punishment and heal, Priest - primary healer of a group, rogue - stealth speed and good damage

Shaman - both ranged and melee combat. Like a more spell oriented paladin. More damage.

mage - possibly highest DPS(damage per second) class in game very weak in melee but deadly in ranged spell attack

Warlock - another magic class. can command pets.

Hunter - very good ranged DPS can command pets.

so choose a class according to your playing style. And don't forget to do some google searches like 'how to choose best race/class in wow'
