well arund 10 years ago when Internet was through Arpanet, Pixeled Images were used to adorn each other's websites resembling the owner.
That was the birth of "avatars" which we use in leaps and bounds in MSN / Yahoo etc etc. Those pixled images were called "stortroopers" before the word "Avatar" came to be used.
The biggest site which you could make them for free closed down in 2002. But an active fan group seems to have taken up the challenge again and re-opened the portal with a new website.
So what you see in that web page is really really RETRO stuff, almost what the birth of Internet looked like and the begining of "Online_Avatars"
I was looking for a profile picture to add here when I stumbled on that page again a long time. So thought of sharing it with you guys / girls
