Huawei Honor 6X starts at $150 with dual rear camera, Kirin 655 SoC, large battery and premium build
Hot on the heels of the ZTE Nubia Z11 mini S, and shortly before the OPPO R9s is expected out, the upper mid-range, wildly affordable Huawei Honor 6X breaks cover in the OEM’s homeland, unfortunately sans word of Western availability anywhere down the line.
The main difference between the fresh 5.5-incher and the Honor 5X is that you now get two cameras on the sleek aluminum back, one with a 12MP sensor, and the other contributing to depth of field courtesy of a couple of extra megapixels.
But the Honor 6X brings important gains to the table in the RAM and internal storage departments too, with up to 4 gigs of the good stuff and a 64GB top digital hoarding configuration, also bumping the selfie snapper up to 8MP, battery capacity to 3,340mAh, swapping the 5X’s Snapdragon 616 processor for a brand-new homemade octa-core Kirin 655, and sprinkling Android 6.0 Marshmallow software goodies on top of an impressive spec sheet.
Impressive considering the 3GB RAM/32GB ROM model is priced at CNY 1,000 ($150) in China, with the 4/64 config going for 600 Yuan or around 40 bucks more. Not bad for a Full HD-capable, all-metal, fingerprint-recognizing, LTE-enabled, 8.2mm slim beast hauling 12 + 2MP rear cams.
