He is the latest addition to the long list of concocted soothsayers predicting the conclusion of the protracted destructive war.

Our Prof. After a long time. Yes the war will be over within few weeks and we need mega projects. But keep in mind that thanks to the war, our natural resources in the north east have been preserved while the same in the rest of the country was sold in bulk to other countries during the last 25 years. Keep the good side of or as it is.

Everybody in the govt. should concentrate on the war effort now. We cannot drag this war any longer because a lot of foreign players are trying to interfere. Our sole objective at the moment must be to put our all effort to finish the war in 2 - 3 weeks. We are running out of time. We need to care for the entrapped civilians. But we might not have too much time to spend on them.

while the opportunists like you hold post, people are not prepared to believe in what you says. Leave this to the President to handle.

Dear Professor, you never talked this type of talk when you were in UNP government and only talked of peace talks. See how opportunist you are now. You being a professor, could not advice that government of futility of talks

Great to hear Mr.Minister! But whom should we believe? The PM, the Cabinet Spokesman on Military Affairs, the Secretary of Defense, the Commander of the Army, the Director of the Media Center for National Security, Cabinet Spokesman or several others from the Government who have given us various deadlines on the end of the war & the beginning of the wonderful future of the paradise island? Mega Projects............. Are we dreaming?

We are happy if it is Three Days! But the Same Professor said that the Constution will be changed with THREE Years in 1994!!

It would have been better for the Prof. to teach Law in the Uni without giving never ending deadlines about the war. Dr. Kohona says the Govt is planning a ceasefire to rescue the civilians. This is similar to the blind leading the blind. No one knows whats happenning exactly. May be G.O.K. god only knows - Ramzeel

What a good news Mr. professor.. Just 4 days before WP election..! For God sake.. please don't change and predict the date till end of the other two PC elections.

He is a good intellect. He could have formulated many good strategies for the development of this country. Now, he is asking for three weeks to end the war. He certainly knows that this is not possible; I am not sure why is he telling this story!

Why is that we got to say outsiders will come to implement mega projects - what do we do for our own country - we dont see another country saying this

you (gov) started saying that the war will end just after the NCP & SP elections then it is dragged to CP & NWP, now to atatract WP voters you are just losing your credibility. we never expected an ultimatum set by you for the sake of winning elections. Mr.rambukwela told by Feb 7th Praba would be caught. pl let the forces decide.

GL you sound like you suddenly woke up. Yes the war will end soon but i doubt in 3 weeks just like Keheliya said Prabha will be captured on Feb 07th. Is an election coming up soon? Yes the war will end soon but will the problems end with it?

Minister Peiris, looks like it is now your turn to blow your trumpet. Why don't all you ministers shut up and let the military do the talking? That's why there is a military spokesman. We are sick and tired of all these ministers going off at different times with your two cents worth. First it was that the war would end before the end of last year (of course there were many other deadlines mentioned prior to this), then it was before Thai Pongol, then it was before Independence Day. So, please, don't make asses of yourselves. You've caused enough damage to your reputations as it is!

Very good news! but, how are the civilians going to be evacuated? is there a plan? is the LTTE going to free them? or are we going to go on fighting regardless of the civilans? This is not clear - I hope, its not the same win at any cost policy. It's great that foreign nations are going to implement mega projects after the war - I'm sure these nations are U.S.A, U.K, other western nations and even India. Some narrow-minded readers previously have stated that we should sever diplomatic ties with the west - they are the nations which are going to help us in the end to re-develop the north and east and also the south and - not Iran, China and Russia (our so called best friends). Anyway, lets all wait and see how this unfolds - very intriguing indeed.
