War will be over, but how about peace?

dm_comment.gif

But will this story change after the elections? hold on.. three weeks would be 21st of April....elections on 25th...calculation error ?

He is the latest addition to the long list of concocted soothsayers predicting the conclusion of the protracted destructive war.

dm_comment.gif

Andarey said Prabhakaran will be caught by 7th of February..just before the February provincial council elections..I guess now it's your turn..

Our Prof. After a long time. Yes the war will be over within few weeks and we need mega projects. But keep in mind that thanks to the war, our natural resources in the north east have been preserved while the same in the rest of the country was sold in bulk to other countries during the last 25 years. Keep the good side of or as it is.

Everybody in the govt. should concentrate on the war effort now. We cannot drag this war any longer because a lot of foreign players are trying to interfere. Our sole objective at the moment must be to put our all effort to finish the war in 2 - 3 weeks. We are running out of time. We need to care for the entrapped civilians. But we might not have too much time to spend on them.

while the opportunists like you hold post, people are not prepared to believe in what you says. Leave this to the President to handle.

dm_comment.gif

Dear Professor, you never talked this type of talk when you were in UNP government and only talked of peace talks. See how opportunist you are now. You being a professor, could not advice that government of futility of talks

Great to hear Mr.Minister! But whom should we believe? The PM, the Cabinet Spokesman on Military Affairs, the Secretary of Defense, the Commander of the Army, the Director of the Media Center for National Security, Cabinet Spokesman or several others from the Government who have given us various deadlines on the end of the war & the beginning of the wonderful future of the paradise island? Mega Projects............. Are we dreaming?

dm_comment.gif

We are happy if it is Three Days! But the Same Professor said that the Constution will be changed with THREE Years in 1994!!

dm_comment.gif
Posted By: Sri Lankan

It would have been better for the Prof. to teach Law in the Uni without giving never ending deadlines about the war. Dr. Kohona says the Govt is planning a ceasefire to rescue the civilians. This is similar to the blind leading the blind. No one knows whats happenning exactly. May be G.O.K. god only knows - Ramzeel

What a good news Mr. professor.. Just 4 days before WP election..! For God sake.. please don't change and predict the date till end of the other two PC elections.

dm_comment.gif

He is a good intellect. He could have formulated many good strategies for the development of this country. Now, he is asking for three weeks to end the war. He certainly knows that this is not possible; I am not sure why is he telling this story!

dm_comment.gif

Why is that we got to say outsiders will come to implement mega projects - what do we do for our own country - we dont see another country saying this

dm_comment.gif
Posted By: Shibly

you (gov) started saying that the war will end just after the NCP & SP elections then it is dragged to CP & NWP, now to atatract WP voters you are just losing your credibility. we never expected an ultimatum set by you for the sake of winning elections. Mr.rambukwela told by Feb 7th Praba would be caught. pl let the forces decide.

dm_comment.gif
Posted By: katee

GL you sound like you suddenly woke up. Yes the war will end soon but i doubt in 3 weeks just like Keheliya said Prabha will be captured on Feb 07th. Is an election coming up soon? Yes the war will end soon but will the problems end with it?

dm_comment.gif

Minister Peiris, looks like it is now your turn to blow your trumpet. Why don't all you ministers shut up and let the military do the talking? That's why there is a military spokesman. We are sick and tired of all these ministers going off at different times with your two cents worth. First it was that the war would end before the end of last year (of course there were many other deadlines mentioned prior to this), then it was before Thai Pongol, then it was before Independence Day. So, please, don't make asses of yourselves. You've caused enough damage to your reputations as it is!

Very good news! but, how are the civilians going to be evacuated? is there a plan? is the LTTE going to free them? or are we going to go on fighting regardless of the civilans? This is not clear - I hope, its not the same win at any cost policy. It's great that foreign nations are going to implement mega projects after the war - I'm sure these nations are U.S.A, U.K, other western nations and even India. Some narrow-minded readers previously have stated that we should sever diplomatic ties with the west - they are the nations which are going to help us in the end to re-develop the north and east and also the south and - not Iran, China and Russia (our so called best friends). Anyway, lets all wait and see how this unfolds - very intriguing indeed.

Who said ?? what a shame Professor dont you know until you kill all the LTTE ITS NOT FINISHED .merely taking Sq.km does not mean war is finished .You already lost your reputation by doing politics

Sri Lanka
Continued............

How can we declare that the war well be over in Three weeks, has the two sides come into an agreement, how many times has the war ended in the future, this war is going to go on and on, it will not end. Even if the war comes to a halt suicide attacks, attacking villages, and other tactics to stop the development in the war zone will continue. Security should be there round the clock all over the Island. Anytime anything can happen. Hope there will be peace to live, and safe to walk in Sri Lanka will bloom soon. Nizam/DUbai

There was a time I really thought that someone who is a "Prof" or "Dr" would always make sensible statements. We really need people that have WISDOM. Wisdom is nothing to do with qualifications but having the clear conscience to differentiate rights and wrongs and the ability to do/say the right thing at the right time. People with Wisdom will also be able to predict what is going to happen by looking at what is happening now.

Hey, Mr Dharmadas, Do not be pessimistic. Try to be opsitmitic. Whatever, this government said done in 95%. Surely this war will be over very soon. Then all the problems will be over in Sri Lanka no sooner or later.

A well knowledgeble professor in law, who travelled all over the world to study several constitutions to implement in Sri Lanka to find a solution to the ethnic issue. Now, all of a sudden, has woken up and says that war will be over within 3 weeks. Ok fine, it may well be true, but where is your solution? Even the educated lot become useless and senseless, when they enter into politics.

dm_comment.gif

The war might probably end as the minister says, but no way are we going to reap any benefits until the causes that gave rise to the conflict are put right. Only then can we be sure there can never be a Prabakharan mark 2 or other to divide our communities again.

Gl mind your own business. You are a legal professor and comment on areas that you are well versed. Don't look up and spit like what Kaheliya & Gothabaya had said before on ending of war and capturing Prabhakaran. Don't think you all can keep fool us this to cover the other issues..

The war is winning the hearts and minds of the people of the North, whom the State with its actions and in-actions have made them to be a disaffected, marginalised, and ostracised people within the mother land Sri Lanka. That is not likely to be achieved soon. The mistrust and suspicion will not be easy to erase. If even the generation after the next is able to overcome them it will be a major achievement. This statement by GL is an election stunt akin to the prime minister stating the Killinochchi was at kissing distance when we all know it was not. May be he was referring to flying kisses!

Peries good wake up call to you.how long he was sleeping. war will only end after the tamil estate established.

It is sad and funny people have lined up to make announcements, declarations, and predictions of end of war. Why don't they mind their own business leaving it to the President and Armed Forces to handle? Funny indeed.

Do not worry Prof. This war supposed to be over a long time ago before the Sinhala Tamil new year by the Gen. who was the minister of defence. He did not mention which year. That was smart. God Bless Sri Lanka!
