Honestly I dont know about Prabakaran or what would Mahinda do with him!

Pilliyan and Karuna did crimes, YES it is true! but situation at hand at that time was more advantageous for the govt. to be united with the enemy of the enemy than to just ignore the opportunity!

Think about this... Mahinda definitely had the idea of wiping out the LTTE, now there was a situation that the people who controlled the whole eastern parts were no longer with LTTE, so suddenly govt. had 2 choices:

1. Fight them off

If govt. chooses to fight them off that would definitely be a enough of a cause for them to reconsider joining back with Praba sooner or later becuase they would be the 1st to get killed anyway!

2. Buy them off

If govt. can buy them off using their greed for power, there are more advantages there..

• Now you dont have to fight to control eastern province
• Intelligence needed to push through for LTTE areas gained
• Saves lives of your soldiers
• A slap in Praba's face and also to LTTE's moral as a whole
• Saves money
• Saves Time

So if we had gone the conventional way to punish them, yes we would have done it... but at a huge COST, both in terms of lives and money!! and it has to be said that govt. had to consider that they had limited time at hand before the next election

Just a correction :

The breaking of Karuna faction form the LTTE was not done by this government. Infact it was not done by ANY of our governments. His faction broke away from the main LTTE for their internal reasons. Infact when the 2 faction started fighting each other, the govt at that time stated several times that it will not pick a side.
It was later on, when Karuna solidified the east under his control that, the govt started to secretly meet with him.

My logic is Mahinda would be happy to win hearts of people who against prabha by fighting against him
and win Prabha's supporter by making him the political head of Tamils.
With one stone he would get both Kurullo.

Proof ? During what govt time did Karuna and Praba fought ? Read up the news headlines of those times.
Besides, I know exactly how Karuna and Army (and govt) had meetings due to the fact that I have spoken with the DPU teamleader that was present during those meetings as well to take him (karuna) to BIA on his own vehicle.

They didnt create this game. This game was created by Praba. Only Mahinda played it better than him and beat him at his own game. At this stage, Mahinda MUST end it and not slow down. He cant afford to slow down now.
