i remember when IFS started in 2002 it was the hit in sri lanka. all were like very keen to get into that company. only a few lucky ones got in and the pay was very good at that time . it was in wellawatte ceylon inn hotels. they gave food and also they had lot of activities that was a new concept to sri lanka at that time, trust me there were guys who resigned from JOhn Keels and joined this place. it was the place at that time,

only kids from a certain class managed to get in due to the english barrier.,,,,royal, thomian visaka...etc.
then came virtusa and emphasis at orion city.

also WNS came at darley road. that was a hit too with almost 300 staff and they gave meals also. but now i feel sri lanka has moved on from that BPO bubble and it will die down.

good old days. when the staff started to buy cars after staying for about 1 year it was really the thing those days. remember this was when a maruti 800 was around 8 lakhs. good old days

Virtusa started as Technology Providers International in 1995 or so, in Kris Canekeratne's house near Nelum Pokuna roundabout. Then they moved to Trans Asia (now Cinnamon Lakeside), later to Orion City.

Millennium IT started around 1997 or 98 in Nawam Mawatha, then moved to Malabe later.

IFS also started in late 1990s maybe 98. I think they were in Access Towers before buying Hotel Ceylon Inns. Access Towers also had Yahoo and MSN call centers at the time, run by Hello corp. Another promising company was MediaSolv. They were trying to create streaming software in early 2000s but they couldn't be successful. They were ahead of time.

Sasianet/roomsnet also was promising but went bust. Roomsnet was trying to develop hotel reservation systems similar to booking.com. They were unsuccessful because the CEO was a drunk womanizer.

WNS was an Indian sweatshop.I knew their CISO very well. Another drunkard.

(Partner-Driven Sales Pipeline).

IFS already expensive and complicate ERP

සමහර products වල nature eka නිසා man to man replace කරන්න අමාරුයි ගොඩක් වෙලාවට

You could be right actually I think although they started in 97 they were not very active by early 2000s they started a huge recruitment drive and things went a lot faster after that. I remember a girl who used to stay close to my house went to IFS after working at DMS and she bought a Suzuki Swift within 18 months and I was like what the f*** but now I think ifs is gone. It's never going to be the same again. Actually it's not about ifs. It's actually the whole is gone. I don't know what happened to emphasis at Orion City. That was a huge one and lot of people left ifs and went to that place. Hello, coffee is no longer there. I think they were handling call centre of air Lanka. Even WNS has dropped its quality now either they don't get much projects and every village Tom, Dick and Harry has started to go in and it's not the same vibe as it was in the early 2000s of 2010s.

Typical Sri Lankan thinking 😁😁...as if you will never grow old. Western countries you don't get this shit but then anyway that's what we call Sri Lankans. No I am not an uncle to answer your question. I said I remember....I got a lot of friends older than me who were doing IT at that time. Some never moved beyond a certain level and that was the maximum they could go to
