when myspace was dominant in the social network arena, no one couldn't challenge them. most of the people thought, there is no point of making a new site , as it would be difficult to compete against them, but it turned out they were wrong with the rise of the facebook. the thing is, when you provided something that your rival doesn't, and also there is a demand for that particular features, then it's more likely that you can get some attention from public with a good marketing plan.
Now do you think is it possible for anyone to make a better site than facebook? or go past them?
No, it's not..
Even Google couldn't do that no matter how hard they tried...Facebook is now almost established and stable because they entered the market at the right time...back then when they had myspace, social media wasn't widely spread as it is now.
Facebook has already conquered the internet to a point where other sites litarally promote them
Facebook is a part of Internet now..just like Google. It's not just marketing.
Talking about Ikman.lk, it's also the same...Ikman has invested millions and now they are stabilized as the trademark of "online selling" in sri lanka...even children know it
adding a new feature or offering something different won't help now...You can't go past ikman and be a top site..You can be an active competitor tho..But even for that, you need to spend millions.
Nothing is gonna change it...Just don't waste time making classified ads sites..Look for a new unsaturated idea...There are a lot if u do a little research...
Just because someone else succeeded doing something; Doesn't mean you too can be successful doing the same..What worked for them is not guaranteed to work for you..
