Bros WHy does some Lankan Artist and Sri Lankans Imitate Bollywood?I am not blaming the Boly culture and North Indian Culture,they have the right for that, But does not Lankans have thire own culture,?

Intresting Info pal, you mentioned about Holywood too, thats good since I coudn't mention it in my Question, So that means many of Lankans dont care about thire own culture, I have seen many Teledramas they too imitate the Bollywood saop operas,some songs that immitate the bollywood and hollywood trends

So why Lankans are not intrested to ask for thire own stuff, from Artists?, is Lankan culture less glamorous, I think if the tourism industry was not thire the little intrest they have, too would go down,

People worship western and Indian movies. That's the ultimate truth. Ask for the people, how many have watched Yashorawaya, Pura hada kaluwara, Agni Daahaya etc. and ask for the numbers who watched Spiderman, Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gam etc. hehe

1. Bollywood is total SH*T... extremely illogical cheap movies (there were good ones, very few often not commercial ones) yes it looks nice... but more like a newly modified car with an old engine

2. Our media, whom pursue more money than what's important for the society!! (a very unbalanced media culture in Sri Lanka)

3. We had better movies, variety than Bollywood in the beginning but now its almost over, thanks to many people, institutions

4. Culture is just a part of the industry I guess.. because if you venture into movie industry there are a lot of avenues that you can take.. sometimes it doesn't necessarily has to be related to culture.. although it can add some unique taste it depend on the type of movie you create I guess!!

5. Yes we do have our own culture but the problem is how many people know how to integrate that and make something unique... and even if they knew... what guarantee they have that it would survive in this bollywood infested country!!

6. Last but not least... BIGGEST FACTOR!!! The target audience and their taste!!! - NO COMMENTS-

I had posted a very simmilar question couple of days back. Got poor and childish response. Our nation (Sri Lanka) is brain washed in two different ways. One is the political and the other being the Bollywood brain wash. Our present generation has to be taught to see our own values. Unfortunately we tend to think what ever the Indians do is the right thing. It is very sad.
