What is the best time to visit Kashmir.
. I want to visit Kashmir and Vallies like Flower Valley and Himalayan Pradesh etc.

how to find good food and clean accomodations.
Did you apply visa directly through embassy?
which vaccines should we take specially for parasites
    thanks in advance
March to early May is the best. But due to various commitments we scheduled it now. Rains start in another two weeks. Even now it's raining heavily. You can find good accommodations from the Internet.
Vaccines for Hep A & Typhoid.
There are mosquitoes in Delhi & Agra.. But in J-K areas none.

That’s a stunning view. India should be visited with an open mind
Yes... There are stunning views. But the sad reality in India is that the infrastructure is very poorly maintained. In another country these places will be nicely maintained, the natural beauty is exploited to attract visitors.

This is the main street in Pahalgam.

    Just another 200m away...

Just two hours ago we arrived in Gulmarg. These views are near our hotel The Kolahoi Green Heights.

Gulmarg is nestled in Pir Panjal Range in a cup-shaped valley, Gulmarg. This magnificent tourist destination in the valley of Kashmir has the best skiing destinations in India including the longest ski treks in Asia.,
Gulmarg is adorned with lofty snow-capped mountains, lush greenery, small lakes, and a large variety of flowers.

Now we are in Sonamarg... Beautiful Glacial area. Superb climate being the summer. View from the front of our hotel.

The sad reality is that the natural landscape is as beautiful as another Alpine country. But the uncleanliess, the muddy roads, poor housing, the stench from animals makes it far less presentable. Gulmarg is the only exception. The council makes an effort to keep the city clean.
That's why I never set foot in India before. But the Jammu-Kashmir areas are really nice. We stayed in the best hotels in these areas as I was particularly worried. But all those in the hotels told me not to worry as these parts are not bad as the South. So many nice dishes in the hotels. I only had cooked food. But I ate Green chiilies dipped in hot water. I cannot survive without chillies.
My son refused to join us - the only time we left him home since he was born. I hired the snow mobiles in the Zero-Point but skipped the White water rafting. If he was there I would.
We flew in from SriNagar to Delhi and waiting for the connection to Colombo. Enjoying the Star Alliance lounge now. Good food and drinks.

Walking path to the Glacier in Sonamarg....

Never really wanted to visit India but eventually did. Took the Air India flight at 2.50 AM today from BIA. Though I purchased an economy ticket, at the last moment just bid for an upgrade to Business class. There were 12 business seats and only 4 occupied. When I bid just one day ahead there was zero occupancy.
As soon as we entered the aircraft the typical Indian smell. There were two beautiful air hostesses who were very nice. The rattling of the Airbus 320 was so bad that I thought that the undercarriage was about to disintegrate. Anyway we took off and landed safely and ahead of time in Delhi.
The food - the crappiest of any airline food I have ever tasted. Also only Chivas & Black Label available, I had no intention to drink at that time and with my KrisFlyer membership I always have access to the lounges where enough drinks & food is available before getting into the aircraft.

Delhi airport wasn't bad, they had a separate immigration counter for Business & First class passengers and didn't take five minutes to clear. I noticed that they took the fingerprints of travellers but didn't ask us to do so. Even at the customs Green Gate where they scan all baggages, one customs officer came to my wife and asked in Hindi where we are from - she had no clue but I answered in English. He just said you please just exit, no queue, no scanning.
The driver was at the airport, took us around, stopped for breakfast at a very good place and also for lunch at a very nice place. We visited the India Gate, Himayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, and a few other places of interest and arrived in Agra - long drive.
Staying in Taj View Agra, IHCL SeleQtions. They upgraded us to a Suite... (Tourists are very few)
Planning to visit the Taj at 5.45 AM tomorrow.
    👍
