------MeeGo OS from Nokia and Intel---------

We all know Moblin and Maemo, Linux based open source operating systems supported by Intel and Nokia. Maemo is mainly used to develop user interfaces for mobile devices. Whereas the Moblin is used to power Intel atom based netbooks. Nokia already have successful phones like N900 running in Maemo. As per today announcement, Nokia and Intel will combine their efforts on Maemo and Moblin operating systems to develop a new OS called MeeGo. The MeeGo OS would be able to run on multiple devices netbooks, tablets, mobile devices etc.

The MeeGo aims to compete directly with Android, an OS that has similar capabilities. We don’t think that it could beat Android. However, the combined operation would contribute to the growth of Linux based mobile platforms in terms of application count and number of devices. First MeeGo based devices will be available from the second quarter of this year.

Looks like a old thread.. But just thought to add some words ;)

Meego is the next gen of mobile computers. It was based on Maemo5 .(Nokia N900 OS) .

Anyway Android sucks alot. It dont have multi tasking and stuff like that. Anyway Maemo fulfilled it and Meego will do it too.
Also Nokia N9 is coming! Powered with meego.
Also windows 7 mobile is also on the way..

    Cheers ;)
