Hybrid Vehicles are here to stay.
Are you interested in buying one?
    Do you own one?
Can you share your findings for everyone to benefit from?

    Honda Insight
    Toyota Prius

Share the pro's and Con's of the matter in relation to Sri Lanka mind set.
Also take into consideration the water logged roads, Gon basses who repair them in a hurry, high tension wires, electrical shorts, battery life, second hand value, duties, taxes, car dealer practices and prices. :D

    I own one.
Honda Civic Hyrbid. Awesome car. Not as economical as a Prius or Aqua. But makes up for it with superior handling, driving experience and looks (my opinion). I drive around 400km per week 5 days in Colombo city + two trips to Kandy-Colombo with average fuel economy of 16-17kmpl. It does around 21-22 on highways.

A nice read about hybrid can be found here machan - http://www.ads.lk/blog/hybrids-sri-lanka:P

Does the Camry Hybrid really do 22kmpl? I thought the vehicle was not built with fuel economy in mind and targeted high end customers. Surprised to find that Camry and Axio hybrids have the same fuel economy, given they are powered by two different caliber of engines.

Also, I found this to be incorrect in the article about the Civic Hybrid:
" You can definitely feel the switch from the petrol engine to the battery and it is nothing but smooth"
In Honda IMA hybrids, there is no switch from petrol engine to the battery. Gasoline engine runs the car, an electric motor uses the hybrid battery to assist the gasoline engine. There is no switch, only assists. This is how Honda hybrids can run even with the hybrid battery dead.
