I practice this Vipassana technique as taught by Mr. Goenka.
If anyone is interested in discussing I would like to participate as one who practiced for a long time and benefited immensely from the very first course I attended in early nineties.

I think there are many reasons
for using Anapana sati as a base.
Breath is always there.
Anitya is very clear which is important in this technique.
Breath connects outside world with within.
When mind is sharpened Sensation can be introduced
and mind is trained to watch a sensation continuousely.
Mind is equanimous toward breath...no like, nor dislike.
It trains the mind to watch
the natural phenomena within us
equanimousely.
There must be many more reasons.

Sri Lankan Buddhist is similar to a Hindu or a Muslim.
He worships Buddha as a god and ignores the path.
They worship books as Buddha's Dhamma
and continue to suffer more.
I think many Buddhists
are not aware of
Vipassana.
