Machan, there is something called queit diplomacy, which is much more effective than gun-boat diplomacy.

Gun-boat diplomacy is where we get morons like Wimal Weerawanse to bash India in the parliament and in media breifings and threaten to go to bed with China. It has its uses, but not all the time.

Quiet diplomacy is where our FM will call up Indian HC and have a stern word and demand the issue be addressed. Details of the discussion is not released to public. Indain HC will get in touch with Home Office of cenral gvt, which will then pressurize TN state gvt. deal with fcuked up immigration officers (don't forget that India is a federal country and TN has its own state government) . This takes time, but done without hard feelings.
