Gotabaya Rajapaksa was a people pleasing president who printed money and handed it out to low income and unemployed citizens during COVID period. That ended up badly. I worry that Anura Kumara Dissanayake might be the same kind of president. I don’t think many people realize how dangerous that can be.

Most people really don’t like Anura. He only got about a third of the votes, and a lot of people didn’t even vote. Also votes were split between Ranil and Sajith, which ended up favoring Anura. Plus he didn’t break the 3% curse; no one voted for him in the past until people got fed up with the major parties that always won and never did their duty. Basically, people are voting for Anura out of a lack of options and because they’re tired of false promises.

Just think about it would you have voted for Anura in any previous elections? Your answer would definitely be no! So, why did you change your mind this time? Question yourself, and you’ll realize the truth.

I’ve got a bad feeling about Anura Kumara Dissanayake becoming president. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not a 'බයියා' or a 'ටොයියා,' but having Anura as president just feels off to me. There’s something about his vibe that gives me chills. I literally felt sick to my stomach when I found out he’s going to be our new president. It’s like we’re on a sinking ship with Anura as the captain.

When Ranil Wickramasinghe took over, I didn’t feel scared. I’m not saying Ranil’s perfect, yeah, he took loans, which is a big reason we’re in this economic mess in the first place but I always felt safer with him at the helm.

What worries me most about Anura is that he might turn into a people pleaser, and if that happens, we’re doomed. We could end up deep down on the ocean bed.​

Perhaps due to uncertainty and the fear of change that we all experience, but over time, it fades as we become more familiar with it.
