Is it worth going for CPU upgrade??????

Playing GTA iv realized me that i need to go for a CPU upgrade,coz i'm using AMD motherboard i was hoping to go for AMD X4 9600 2.3GHZ,but reviews say that some times it's slower than some AMD X2.so it's kinnda risky to go for AMD x4 upgrade
but i don't what's happening in real world.so guyz if u have used a x4 please post comments about it and tell me,is it worth going for a x4.i'm gonna oc it

My current Cpu is AMD x2 4200+ @ 3.02GHZ

BTW i'm using a HD 3870.will i see a big improvement in fps if i buy a X4

apoo na ban mama ehema upgrade karanne na.mata gedarin kiyakwath denne na PC 1ta a/l iwara wekan eka hinda limited budget machan,core i 7 is too much for me
and expensive,i wanna buy a cpu around Rs 20000 and i can't buy the cpu till i collect money so it's gonna take a while

its shows there in the pic as 4096MB DDr2 RAM....

to the Q tho -
i think mebbe u shud get a core 2 quad Q6600 or mebbe a core2duo E8400..unless u wanna wait with this for another 3 years to buy the i7 when the prices settle....i always go intel...

Since it uses 96% of your cpu,then the cpu is becoming your bottleneck.
Machan i am sure that GTA4 is not optimized for 4 core cpu(phenom or core 2 quad).Coz there is no single game out there yet to use full 4 core cpu power.Coz it is increasingly difficult to program them to 4 cores. Recent claim that valve has used full multithreading for 4 cores is also not correct with their new title left 4 dead.

But it is better to get a X4 or a core 2 quad since it is future proof.

core i7 is out ma budget machan and i need to upgrade to an AMD cpu coz i can't buy an intel mobo
and i'm not upgrading coz of a game i just think it's time to upgrade to 4 cores
