UCSC CS is the best choice. If you want to work with Biology people, go for Mora IT.
If u want to work with maths people only, go for ucsc cs.
    Updated salaries of Ucsc.
    4 yr cs fresh graduate : 135000
    ucsc 3 yr cs graduate 80-1k .
Without any argue, ucsc is the ict pioneer name in the industry.
If u want ask from the industry.
    Good luck

    LOL

Dude, seems like you are a first year and you have so long to go. Therefore, I should post this.

    1. Moartuwa IT is a four year degree, in third and fourth years you can select your path according to your preference by doing elective subjects they offer. When it comes to first year project what faculty hopes from you?
doing things by your own and teaches you how to develop skills like team working. Micro c, adrudino programming isn't teach you in deep. then you need to go through all the tutorials, search for resources and finish within the given time period. If you really like this area, IN third & fourth years, you can choose your subjects related to Robotics, embedded systems and manymore.. There were ppl from your past batches who works for Zone24x7, Cakelabs and most of them handling projects related to embedded systems. SO choice is yours.

    2. Why those subjects in Mora IT syllabus?
Moratuwa IT and CSE ppl got almost all the subjects are same in their syllabuses. Because, Industry hopes from moratuwa ppl not to code from google, they wants ppl who got analytical skills, thinking ability and hard working attitude.

    3. Why Mora IT got its name in high mark?
Due to the past works done by your seniors, Four year degree and skills you get from Industrial training in third year.

    4. UCSC or Mora IT?
*Mora IT is a four year degree and demand is higher than any other. UCSC got three year degree and only few ppl(25-50) ppl get four year one.
*Moratuwa IT average salary range for last batch - 80k - 120k (Some went for 160k, 180k). this is due to career fairs and all other things done by your seniors.
*When compare both syllabus, Mora IT got subject variation. and You will learn Data structures & algorithms in first year second sem. with all those stacks, queues, trees, graphs, searches and all in deep manner. But UCSC got Data structures 1, 2,3 like that for whole three years. and i got some of the lecture slides of them, what i saw is same concepts, but they teach you for 3 years. Mora IT covers it from One sem. Again hard working is expected.
    * Subject variation - subjects like , Artificial nural networks, Image processing, Natural language proecessing, Big data analytics, Data miing and warehousing, compiler theory, Agent technology, Semantic web, and etc are some of the third year and fourth year electives. Those are very valuable subjects than learning a programming language.

    5. Choice?
Choice is yours. And dont miss out some valuable things in your life.
also i would like to tell For someone who wants to be a software engineer(i mean real software engineer, cz today everyone is a software engineer :D), I suggest Government unis like Mora CSE, Mora IT, and UCSC

    6. Final words
Don't ask those kind of things in elakiri. You got many real ppl there in Uni to ask those kind of questions but not in elakiri. See my past posts here too.I'm posting those kind of things for the ppl who got totally wrong ideas, who came here elakiri, read every post here and always get wrong ideas.

    7. Questions?

** check out the handbook for syllabus both Mora IT and CSE

    The best explanation :yes::yes:

Okay, i need to convey that for whole first year and half of the second year (18 months) seems little too long. by d way thanks for the correction.
    You' re welcome mchn.
contents covered by the subjects i mentioned Earlier are well within the scope to be covered for three semesters.
i went through mora algo contents. Fyi there are some areas not covered by that, which are under the contents of ucsc cs algorithm subject. Plus mora it subject titled as programming fundamentals also covers some contents under ucsc cs algorithm subjects, which suggests that it is not too long as u suggest it to be.

You have to look at the lecture slide dude. coz, syllabi is just a summary of the contents. I have compared all slide with yours when i was in UNi.also in Mora CSE syllabi you can't see anything better if you only looking at the syllabi only. it is just a brief. But things we, Mora IT n CSE covered are going deep. Level 4 subjects are way ahead than your subjects. And all the students get chance to do those according to prerequisities. Just check subject contents with your mate who are in Mora Uni First year. And the variation of the subject in Level 3 n 4 . Got some highly demandable subjects. And only 40 ppl got chance to do 4 year one of yours. Actually your 3 year fresh graduate salaries can be stated here but i dnt want to. from your four year 25 last batch there were ppl get 90s onli.

** Finally want to say this I dont want anyone to come moratuwa IT or CSE, posting for some one who wants true information. Because Moratuwa is not a private university and doesnt need any advertisments as Private unis do. :D :D

It's pointless to say something on CS because I really don't know about that degree. Let me tell you something that I do know. When you go to industry They will look for your university, GPA or Class and Experience. The last two you can do whether you're in UCSC or Mora IT. But the case is with the first one and as I know Mora IT is a reputed degree.
When I was applying for universities in 2011 Mora IT was above UCSC in colombo district and my choice was accordingly. But some districts they have Mora IT below UCSC CS.
The decision is really yours. Do what you happy to do. Its not about the IT or CS. what really matters is that you do something you like. Whether you do CS or IT there will be a set of seniors to help you as well as your friends.:yes:
So best of luck. Last advice do what you really like to do without listening to anyone else.

I never said that mora IT or CSE are lacking subjecs with high demand. Or ddnt talk less about the subjects.
Regarding ur comparison between the subjects, no need to get into an arguement coz u an IT guy and me a CS guy arguing for the quality of subjects will make no sense in the end.

selecting 40 for Honours degree does not lessen the value of the degree dude. :P
And if u r already in the industry, u should know better than me that the degree itself is not enough for the zeros u get behind the salary. And all mora IT ppl does not get above 100k and i knw that coz i knw some of them personally. For CS, the story remains the same.

I never said all go beyond 100k or 120k , I said that majority lies between. And if you are going to talk about technical things, you can have best guys from private unis too :D im talking about the Intake and average Outcome ,
If intake =100 if 70ppl goes for 100k its such a high value. but id intake = 100 and 40ppl go for 100k , then it's not good idea to pretend :D . coz ppl who don't know anything will think that your all ppl get 4 year degree. ;)

yah, maybe if Mora IT guy want to be scientist there is no retriction coz all the areas well covered in application level and low level. ;) But in SL not much select those areas

And about the salary of the last batch, the average stays above 100k so thats something tobe corrected.
