Get out if your university students zone and reach out the people in the world. Having met them before in open source communities can help immensely. If you are a vital part of the project, they will sponsor you. Its not about the money. You'll get to meet awesome people, learn from them, mentor them back in turn, and live a colourful life. Every open source project has their own politics and inner circles. When you are inside, top developers from your niche become your best friends.</blockquote>
