jack Ma is now splashing his money around to places in need of equipment amid the coronavirus pandemic, like Africa and the United States.

The retired billionaire founder of Alibaba announced earlier this month that he would be donating 500,000 Covid-19 testing kits and one million face masks to the United States.

In his first-ever tweet on Monday, he posted a photo of the first batch of those kits and masks being loaded onto a China Eastern Airlines plane in Shanghai.

So far, there have been more than 4,500 cases of the coronavirus diagnosed in the United States. However, they are likely to be far more people infected with the US response to the outbreak characterized by a drastic lack of testing kits and other resources.

“Drawing from my own country’s experience, speedy and accurate testing and adequate personal protective equipment for medical professionals are most effective in preventing the spread of the virus,” Ma wrote in a message published by his charity foundation.

“We hope that our donation can help Americans fight against the pandemic.”

He's also sending 20,000 testing kits and 100,000 masks to each African country.
