The opportunity to export the assembled vehicles to neighbouring countries notably India and Pakistan, through their Free Trade Agreements with Sri Lanka, was a strong possibility.

no body in india or pakistan will purchase those vechicles since they have about 300% tax component. They can purchase those vechicles much cheaper from other countries.

u mean srilankan tax on vehicals ?

i think they could have (and already had most probably) made an agreement with SL government via BoI to issue tax reductions on their imports.

And also since asian countries have trade agreements there could be ways to export them at reduced price.

So it culd be cheaper than we think.
