LTTE don't care if it is UNP, SLFP, PA, they always target anti-LTTE leaders and potential future strong leaders. Ex: Lalith Athulathmudali, Gamini Disanayake, Ranjan Wijeratne, Major General Lucky Algama and now Janaka Perera.

It's true governement goons unleashed violence during election specially against Dr. Johnpulle and they even removed security of JP and banned him and former SF commander Jayavi fernando from entering army camps and army hq. JP had to go to courts get security. But I don't think Mahinda is behind this killing but could have made it easy for LTTE to target him by not providing security. Even crooks like Sajin Vas Goonewardane and jokers like wimal weerawansa get more security from government with bullet proof vehicles and backup vehicles.

LTTE's main sponser and support base is diaspora tamils. They may wanted to score some points from diaspora tamils by killing JP specially they're getting heavy beating from army.

matath ada isskole me news eka aawa. damn was shoked wen i heard dat almost 20 were killed.

wat i think is dat this was not a suicide attack. looking at da damage caused and da number f casualities it must have been a lage bomb. imagine over 100 injured and around 30 killed wit jst one bomb?? either there was a big bomb planted sumwhere or else there were more than one suicide bombers in da area.!

n e way may all those who deceased rest in peace and may god bless them. i hope dat Maj Gen Janaka Perera is given a army funeral after cnsidering wat he has done to his country when he served in da forces. i was surprised t c dat even da president has sent a condlence msg and also da defence ministry website saying janaka perera was a good guy and had done so much and and won many awards after wat da govt told him during da elections!!
