Don't worry. Nothing goes wrong. I found one Black label at my parents place recently which was 27 years old since the purchase date. As long as it's stored properly and unopened it's fine.
Even the box looks different to the current ones. However note that the 12 year old does NOT become 12 + 27 years old. That's valid only in a cask. Once bottled the aging process stops.
