Johnston was given portfolio on undertaking of General Fonseka murder
(Lanka-e-News 20.Jan.2010 10.00PM) Presidential candidate Gen. Fonseka’s joint media coordinater Mnagala Samaraweera M.P. said , UNP M.P.Johnston Fernando joined with the President because Johnston’s attempts to murder Gen. Fonseka leaked out.
At a Press briefing at the General’s office at Rajakeeya Mawatha today (20) , he stated the 3 LTTE cadres who were arrested on the 29 of June 2009 had revealed this. Similarly , he has along with the LTTE Sivaraja Subakrishnan, Thavarajasingham subhash, Linton sandireshan planned to assassinate the President .With a view to achieving this objective they have been changing their abodes frequently , he added.
At today’s press briefing details of the phone calls including the duration , the place from where the calls were taken by Johnston Fernando during the telephone discussions who is now a Minister under the Rajapkse regime were all disclosed.
Johnston has taken 45 calls from his phone 0717530555 to Subash whose phone No. is 0725171828 from Feb. 27th 2009 to 07th April 2009 . Subash has taken 60 calls on his phone to Johnston between 08th Jan. 2009 to 08th May 2009 . There had also been 24 messages sent across of the LTTE. Later Johnston has discussed the murder of the President and the amount involved. But , the TID finally arrested the Tiger suspect , he pointed out.
