Firstly, the supreme allied commander during world war 2, General Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower was elected for two terms as the 34th President of USA from 1953-1961. He was a Republican. The two war time US Presidents during world war 2 were democrats. Secondly, the commander of the union army during the American civil war was General Ulysses S. Grant - he was elected for two terms as the 18th President of USA after the civil war. Winston Churchil was the PM of U.K during world war 2 and was a brilliant war time PM but was thrown out of office during peace time - he had high approval ratings during world war 2. Presidnet Bush (Snr) was a brilliant war time President during 'Desert Storm' and had almost 90% approval ratings but he lost to Bill Clinton. If Gen. Sarath Fonseka decides to run he would have looked at all the pros and cons of running for President and will make the right decision. If he decides to run, I'm confident he would win. So, in conclusion, Generals have become efficient and much loved Presidents.
