Sri Lanka's Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today said that the government could not take independent decisions now as it has to bow to the International monetary Fund (IMF) dictates.
Speaking at a pres briefing held in Colombo this morning JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the Government has no alternate other than following the conditions set by the IMF.
He pointed out that the IMF has asked to reduce the budget deficit to five per cent which will be impractical.
The JVP MP blamed the government over the rising of cost of living in the country. It said that the Government is unable to control the rising prices of all essential items even after the end of war.
