If you are knowledgeable about eye‑related matters—such as lenses or spectacle frames—go to Vision Care. Since you know the basics, they won’t be able to rip you off. However, if you lack that knowledge, it’s best to avoid going there, as they could take advantage of you. This is their business model.

If you can find someone knowledgeable, take that person with you and let them handle the conversation. Once the salesperson realizes they’re dealing with an expert in the field, they won’t try to scam you. That’s why I learned about this area: in this country, these professionals are among the best, even though their sales tactics can be questionable. Because they’re the best, I needed to become knowledgeable myself. Now I can purchase the product I want without being ripped off.

Should I provide you with a hint regarding their frames? It is acceptable to use the ones that have a few random brand names. Their prices are set at the most affordable level possible. In that case, the more expensive ones are acceptable because they are, in fact, from that particular brand. But the ones that fall somewhere in the middle of those two are the ones that raise questions. In reality, they are counterfeits; despite the fact that they bear brand names, they are counterfeits. Stay away from them. Now, let's talk about lenses. The lenses, on the other hand, are a completely different animal. It is always a costly endeavour to purchase lenses from reputable brands such as Carl Zeiss and Essilor. On the other hand, the quality is outstanding. Regarding lens coatings, they make an effort to upsell it. When it comes to coatings, you should only buy those that are essential for your requirements. Therefore, you should avoid purchasing any coatings that are not necessary.

At that price point my advice is to go with the cheapest frame (they are not from brands, but the quality is there and they are non-counterfeit as well) and spend money on entry-level Essilor lenses with all the basic coatings you need. That is the best way. But if you need a branded frame, you have to spend more for the frame. In that case you have to go with cheap Chinese lenses with cheap Chinese coatings. But whatever you do, do not buy counterfeit frames that are priced in between cheap frames and expensive branded frames.
