The UNP’s Working Committee today appointed Karu Jayasuriya as the Deputy leader of the party while naming Mr. Rukman Senanayaka as the Assistant Leader and Gamini Jayawickrema Perera as the Party Chairman, a party spokesman said.

The Working Committee meeting was presided over by party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe who proposed Jayasuirya’s name.

Last few weeks he was not comfortable with the GOV. Even no body from the GOV visited him while he was ill and were in hospital. Only Ranil went to see him. Even for his Mother's funural also. Maybe he thought he can do something to give hope to the UNP by joining back.
