Colombo, 08 February, (Asiantribune.com): In an exclusive interview with the Asian Tribune, V. Muralithiran, (nom de guerre Colonel Karuna) leader of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal, said their intelligence reports have confirmed that Velupillai Prabhakaran is now making secret preparations to flee to another country, possibly S. Africa.
Karuna also urged President of Sri Lanka to take appropriate action to liberate the people in the North from the jackboots of Velupillai Prabakaran. He said at present people in Vanni are kept under “land arrest” by the Vanni Tigers and people over there are allowed to open their mouth only to eat and nothing else.
It is the duty of the Sri Lanka Government to put an end to these horrors by using the only language understood by Prabakaran.
At this juncture, I wish to recall the statement made by Sri Lanka President on 3rd of this month when he visited Vaharai.
There he appealed to the LTTE to come to the negotiation table for talks. The media personnel asked the President for a clarification. They asked: In case Vanni Tigers refuse to come to the negotiation table then what will you do?"
President replied that in such a situation the government should “tame them.”
I think that time has come to the Sri Lanka Government to “tame the Tigers.”
