(Lanka-e-News, October 07, 2008, 7.40 AM) The leader of Tamil People's Liberation Tigers (TMVP) Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman is to swear in as a Member of Parliament through the national list slot vacated by JVP MP Wasantha Samarasinghe, government sources said.
'Lanka-e-News' learns that the government has taken steps to appoint Karuna to parliament to resolve the internal conflict between Karuna and Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan in TMVP. Both TMVP leaders had discussions with the government leaders recently.
JVP Secretary Tilvin Silva made a written request to the Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance Susil Prema Jayantha asking to appoint Wasantha Samarasinghe as a national list MP. The JVP Secretary further said that the party would go to courts seeking redress if his demand was not granted.
Karuna Amman who was studying Sinhala during the past period said to media that his ambition was to enter Sri Lanka parliament as a MP.
