The death toll from illicit liquor poisoning at Weliveriya in Gampaha has risen to 19.
Sixty-five others are receiving treatment at hospitals.
Director of Gampaha Hospital, Dr. Dhammika Mayadunne said that two out of nine under their care were in critical condition.
Investigations have revealed that the alcohol had contained ethyl, a toxic alcoholic substitute.
The victims have died after this chemical caused extreme damage to their neurological systems.
According to doctors, those who will live will be completely or partly blinded for life.
