Fonseka is yet to get President’s formal response to letter

Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka is yet to get the formal response from President Mahinda Rajapaksa to his retirement letter and is still keen to remain in his post till the end of this month before relinquishing himself of his services by holding a farewell ceremony, sources close to the General told Daily Mirror online.
Although the government announced yesterday that the President had accepted General Fonseka’s letter of retirement and had asked him to leave with immediate effect the Daily Mirror has learnt that although the General's letter was accepted a formal letter responding to the issues raised in his letter has not yet been sent to the General nor has he been formally told to leave immediately.
Sources close to the General said that he is ready to retire even immediately if the President wants him to do so but has not got a formal directive so far. The source also said that forcing him to retire with immediate effect could be seen as an attempt to prevent him from holding a farewell ceremony.
The General had earlier sought to retire from his post by the end of this month and had mentioned in his letter to the President why he wants to leave.

MR trying to play some tricky politics with genarals question.They are now almost defeated even without declaring his candidacy.SF is not a politician. But we need someone like him to stop this undemoctratic, inhuman way of rule in the country.However I doubt them about declaring a presidential election at present situation.They might try to stay in power by hook or crook.That is the way of dictators!
