Two Dutch nationals were caught in the forest area of Dansinan ,Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka when they were collecting genetic materials of Amorphophallus species, Kidarami Sinhala(Elephant footplant (yam)) and produce before magistrate ,Nuwara Eliya found guilty and was fined Rs10000/- per each person.Production was forfeited. Suspects were released after payment of the fine
Particular plant has high medicinal propeties, which is been used for the treatment for rhumatism, arthritis,gout, kidney stones,hyperacidity,piles,dysentry etc: in traditional medicine. and lso it uses as a food plant in certain countries, Particular genus hasthe distribution from Madagascar to Phlipines in the tropcs.

Suspects were arrested by the Forest officers in Nuwaraeliya.
