Under pressure to crack the Lahore attack case, Pakistan on Wednesday released sketches of four persons suspected to be behind the audacious gun and grenade attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on Tuesday.
The sketches of youths, believed to be in the age group of 20 to 25, were made on the basis of eyewitness accounts.
However, apart from picking up 50 people for questioning, the investigators made little headway in tracking down the dozen terrorists who fled after the incident.
The suspects were detained during raids by a special investigation team on hostels and guest houses in Lahore's Gulberg area, located near Liberty Chowk traffic roundabout where the bus was ambushed on Tuesday leaving seven players and an assistant coach injured and eight people dead.
Meanwhile, fresh television footage released on Wednesday showed three suspected armed terrorists getting into a by-lane near the Liberty Chowk where the gunmen sprayed bullets on the bus ferrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to Gaddafi stadium.
Investigators claimed to have uncovered "some details and important leads that would eventually unearth the people responsible" for the attack, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters at a joint press conference with his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama.
Qureshi, who did not give any details, said these findings have been shared with Bogollagama.
