කඩුවක් අතින් ගත්තු සිංහයගෙන් නිරූපණය වෙන්නෙ අපේ බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ බව.
දැන් ඉතිං කට්ටිය කලබල වෙන්න එපා අපේ අවිහිංසාවාදී, හැමෝටම මෛත්‍රී කල බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සෙ කඩුවක් අරන් ඉන්නව කිව්වහම. ඒක තමයි ඇත්ත. ඔය කඩුව අතින් ගත්තු සිංහයගෙන් පිළිඹිබු වෙන්නෙ බුදුන් වහන්සේ එදා බුද්ධ ගයාවෙ බෝමැඩදි කල මාර පරාජය. මාරයා පරාජය කරලා උතුම් වූ නිර්වාණයට සපැමිණි අපේ ශාක්‍ය සිංහ ගෞතම බුදුන්ව තමයි අපේ ජාතික කොඩියෙ සිංහයගෙන් පිළිඹිබු වෙන්නෙ.

හොඳම උදාහරණය තමයි දුටුගැමුණු රජතුමා.
දුටුගැමුණු රජ්ජුරුවො සටන් කලේ බුදු දහම වෙනුවෙන් බව අපි කවුරුත් දනවනෙ. ගැමුණු රජ්ජුරුවො සටන් බිමට අරන් යන්නෙත් සිංහ කොඩියක්.

නමුත් ගැටළුවකට තියෙන්නෙ ඔය කියන සිංහ වංශය ගැන සඳහනක් ඉන්දියාවෙත් නොවීමයි. වංශකතාවලින් පමණයි අපට ඔය ගැන අහන්න ලැබෙන්නෙ. විජයට දරුවන් නොසිටි නිසා සිංහ ලේ අපේ ජාන වලට එකතු වෙන්න විදිහක් නෑ. වංශකතා මඟින් නොමඟ ගියාට, විවිධ කාල වල අපේ රටට ආපු කීප දෙනෙක් සමඟ මිශ්‍ර උනාට තාමත් ලංකාවෙ ඉන්නෙ යක්ෂ, නාග, රාක්ෂ සහ දේව (අසුර) කියන හෙළයන්ගෙන් පැවතෙන අය තමා. වසර දහස් ගණනක් තිස්සෙ, එක පිට එක ආපු ආක්‍රමණ මැද්දෙ මේ රටේ බුදු දහම රැකගත්තෙ සිව් හෙළයෙ අපේ මුතුන් මිත්තො.

ඕක තමයි අපේ රටේ අනන්‍යතාවය. ජාතික කොඩියෙන් නිරූපණය වෙන්නෙත් බුදු දහම රකින්න කැපවුණ සිංහලයගෙ රටේ අපේ කම.

ඔන්න ඔහොම තමයි මම අහලා තියෙන්නෙ. ජාතික කොඩියෙ සිංහයාට තවත් අර්තකථන අහලා තිබ්බට පිළිගන්න පුළුවන් තරම් කරුණු තියෙන්නෙ බොහොම කිහිපයයි. නමුත් ගොඩක් කරුණු ඔප්පු කරන්න තරම් සාධක ලැබිලා නැහැ. මේ ත්‍රෙඩ් එකෙන් ප්‍රයෝජනයක් අරන් අපි කට්ටිය ජාතික කොඩිය ගැන වැඩිදුර සොයා බැළුවොත් හොදයි කියලා හිතෙනවා. මොකද පහුගිය කාලෙ යුදමය වාතාවරණයත් එක්ක ජාතික කොඩියෙ සිංහයා, කඩුව ආදිය ගැන ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් ජාත්‍යන්තරයට වැරදි ප්‍රකාශ රැගෙන ගියා. ඒවට උත්තර දෙන්න නම් මුලින්ම අපි ඇත්ත දැනගෙන ඉන්න ඕනෙ.
