You don't need a insanely expensive phone to do those, most of the main stream phones do those already.

    Whats the matter with Sri Lankan's and their addiction to very high end and expensive phones? I live in the US and every time I ask a friend in in Sri Lanka if they need anything from here, and first thing is almost always the latest and greatest phone.

    These always end up being in the $200 - $600 range. Correct me if I am wrong but that's about the average someone makes per month there? On top of that, they already have another phone that's only one generation behind. I would not have any problem with them if they can afford it, but they can't, yet they still dive into their savings for a phone.

    Not to say I am not fan of bleeding edge technology (computer networking and communications is my field actually), but blowing a month's salary on a phone seems ridiculous and in my opinion financially irresponsible.

    Is having the latest and greatest phone a way to make a social statement now, regardless if you can afford it or not?

    When I see this, it doesn't prove that you are rich or not, but definitely an idiot for being financially irresponsible

    edit: specially with a thread like this http://elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38056 (WHo hAVe da Most eXpensive cell phone...)

    Wt 2 do!!! pissu ne

    Of course I wouldn't have any problem if you can afford it, I am just dissapointed about the few who buy these while they can't afford it.
    would u buy a cisco 7200 for home use even if u can afford? hope not! same with mobiles. think about big bulky N95, Its extra trouble for daily works, specialy in SL. ppl think its cool to have the latest technology. but what i think is we should go for technology that suits us.

    I've been using a old and shabby looking X100 for more than 3 years, and finally it got lost (otherwise I would be still using that crap :P) Couple of months ago bought this Nokia 5700, but only bought it because I got the money from grand pa. Otherwise, I would have settled for a SE k750i or something in that range. :D

    yeah that's correct...
    those days I had this addiction to buy the most expensive phone; there's a competition in our society;
    But finally I realize there's no point and wasting of money.... then I didnt use a phn nearly about a year, cuz I didnt need a phn as I was home all the time...

    but then here I'm wit a 4k nokia phn (sorry I dnt even remember it's model number, not a 1100, but sumtin like that);

    and now my friends are asking... " MAN WHAT HAPPEN TO U? WHY ARE U USING THIS? THIS EVEN doesn't HAVE A CAMERA NEY??

    eerrrr deepallako ithin owata uttara...

    Why next june? is your phone gonna explode by then? Why cannot you use it for three years? By buying a new phone you add extra pollutants to the environment. With each new phone, an old phone is going down the drain. All these phones contain harmful chemicals which pollutre the environment.

    Say that you only want the phone. If you want a camera you'd buy a digital camera which will give better results.
