If you look at the number of total mobile subscribers in the Sri Lankan community and the number of subscribers who have so called expensive phones its just a small percentage. You have posted this thread just because some people you know have expensive phones (And not because u have done a survey). And I'm very much sure that people you associate with are rich enough (Than most of the average people) and can afford such gadgets.
But the craze of having a ‘posh’ phone is with a very minor crowed who is technology savvy which I believe is their choice of living. Some people spend for cloths and some for boozing more than others. But that doesn’t mean that there is a craze in the community as such. Its individual centric. That’s how I see it.
