Exactly! this is the core issue that needs to be addressed. The problem is how do you en sure the quality of the degree offered in the private university ?

when a certain country has a poor education system, people could go there and earn degrees easily.. but with the time, the demand for the degree could go down.. At present India government don't recognize Russian degree... why is that? they should be trying to maintain the quality of their system. indians cold shut down the private campuses in india, but they definitely cant shut down national campuses in Russia! neither we!

Nope. This is the real problem with private unis. Since such places gives degrees for money without having any kind of standards, people pay and get the degree without having any real knowledge about the subject and apply for jobs.
Such places doesnt go down as people with money keeps on paying for such degrees.

there should be a system to solve that prob. shutting down all private universities doesnt help.. still a student can go abroad and get cheap education.. and still a student can go somewhere like aus, england and have a high quality education as well.. even sl proffessors have British Phd...

if your answer is YES i'm also in your camp..... but if the answer is NO, it's better to start private universities in Sri Lanka....

I want to point out out thing. Not all the ppl go abroad just because they mess up A/Ls. There are ppl who go just because they cannot find the area they are interested in SL.

Mama mage IT degree 1 complete kale 2 1/2 years walin. Last June. from IDM. Mama degree 1 start karana kalema govt. universities walata giya mage school 1 class matesla thamath 2nd year. Ayi hemadama e universities wahalane. E wagema godak welawata govt. uni's walin eliyata enne melo deyak bari un . Okkomala newe. wedi hariyak. Mama danna un innawa Software engeneering karana Peradeniya uni. 1. Un danne naa variable 1k declare kara gannawath. Mama me ekata hina wenawa newe. But thats the truth & reality.

E wagema balanna ada ape rate IT field 1 diha. Okkoma inne api wage IDM, SLITT, NIBM, APITT, etc. walin degree gaththa un. Govt. uni's witharak thibbanam ada ape rate IT field 1 mechchara develop weyida ?

but one thing more, if a person is poor he must know that he has only one way... it's doing ALs wel and get in to a gvt. university....

If someone like to lean in a uni, that's his right. Agree with that. But unfortunately SL gov can not provide that. what they do is select the best of them as vacancies available. So to overcome this problem, answer is PVT uni??? hmm.....that's bad idea.

the whole community in the world related to education systems could aware which country/institutes offers good degrees and which doesnt.. cos we cant close down all non-standard institue all around the world.. there are larger group of lankans going abroad and doing studies. how can one stop them? they should not!!

cos,, no one tallk about pros of the private education.. one can have an education in their own interested field, with less troubles,,in less time period and even could have a very high quality, world recogniezed degree (for example,, aus universities, they maintain their standard very well, some of their universities are top ranked in the world!!! how can one defeat that quality?)

and it is always a good opertunity for a person who need an alternative education system. exams are optimized, examd doesnt want to stop you. they just filter unwanted people!

This is not a such a simple question with a yes/no answer.
For all those who is saying that it is a good thing, think about this :
Even now the govt. has given approval for a private medical university and already that private university has begun recruiting the best lecturers and senior lecturers from all the local universities. What that means is that the local universities will end up with non experienced staff and all the kids who gets qualified the hard way (passing the A/Ls) will be getting educated with learning from non experienced staff. Imagine what that'll do to the doctors thats comes out of them.

Having private universities is a very delicate problem to handle.

if not letting privet uni's da govenment it self shud improve da higher education facilities in SL
sayn "we dnt hav enough resourses to give entrance to more students" is not an acceptable ans in ma point if view
