No each yr they cut off some amount of money.

lankawe jobs nethnam wena ratakata gihin sewaya karana eka weradi naha. we can't blame to that person. But Yes, it's a big loss for SL. But if our country unable to give a job to that person? ? ? then what ? ?
So whether people learn in gov or PVT or SL or abroad, if they unable to find a job in SL they will go abroad.

on this situation cutting off some money is fair... otherwise how they battle with terrorism? but, will see after the war..

main reason is not the jobless problem... firstly they go for higher education... after that , if they find a good job there, they do it and all the money goes to that country... Universities problem is the basic point here... if we have enough private and gvnt. universities they won't go abroad . they can study frm here and do a job ( but, gvnt. sector should be recreated...cause its always over-employed).......and after this war new companies will be established, especially in North... so, we can keep hopes aqbout it..

This is not a such a simple question with a yes/no answer.
For all those who is saying that it is a good thing, think about this :
Even now the govt. has given approval for a private medical university and already that private university has begun recruiting the best lecturers and senior lecturers from all the local universities. What that means is that the local universities will end up with non experienced staff and all the kids who gets qualified the hard way (passing the A/Ls) will be getting educated with learning from non experienced staff. Imagine what that'll do to the doctors thats comes out of them.

Having private universities is a very delicate problem to handle.

My Dear Elakiri Members

First and Foremost let me thank for the member who started this discussion. I Hope you all will listen to my side of the story and understand.

I studied at an International School, Both O/L and A/L and I did have a liking to enter Local University as well, so I spoke to the University Grants Commission and asked them if I can enter a University here and they said that I can't since they expect GCE O/L and A/L and it is highly competitive to enter.

I had no liking to go abroad since I did not like the atitude of some of the foreign University representetives and above all I like this Country and the culture a lot

Currently I am studing for my Degree in Computing at APIIT, if not for places like APIIT, ACBT etc youngsters like us would have been just no where, and I do understand the agony that Students who have no access to higher education undergo.

Every child in this country (in this case the world)should have access to higher education, free education is where education is free of charge as well as freely accessible.

If Higher Education in Sri Lanka is only limited for those who get very high results on what ground can we call it freely accessible in turn justify it as Free Education

Therefore please understand the plight of such students, afterall we all are children of Mother Lanka, for those who had the luck and benifit of obtaining free education, please for once think of students like us and give us one chance to stand up and we all can get together and do a yoremans service to the benifit of this Country and Community

private unis needs to educate students....as well as gvnt. unis...

recreation needs to make a better society with enough occupations to all.... first education...

but the problem is SL is not that much faster with technology...
RECREATION IS A MAJOR NEED...
