Buying a UPS to replace a laptop battery is not ideal but at the same time its not a bad option either when compared to the poor durability of batteries. Most of the sellers who sell replacement batteries only offer 6 months warranty. The originals are difficult to find and also expensive too. Instead one can invest in a UPS (1.2 KVA) which is relatively cheaper as well as it comes with a 2 to 3 years of warranty. But the most important thing to remember is that you should not use the laptop continuously through the UPS as it is not designed for such usage. I've learned this in hard way and my brand new UPS got dead even before it completed its first year of usage. I was also in a false belief that since the laptop is not taking a lot of power, I can continue to use the laptop at least for couple of hours or more with a 1.2 Kva. But it turned out to be a pretty bad decision. While using a UPS, regardless of whether it is connected to a laptop or a desktop, save your work and shut down the machine and power off the UPS as soon as possible. Maximum within 5 -6 minutes. Otherwise the battries will start to drain faster than its expected life span. Thats my experience
