Honey actually we needed not ur bright career but the things u wanna do with it.SO as u are going to be a doctor(My congrats!!)I assume u will use this lappy to carrry ur study guides,watch educational videos,put ur recorded lectures in it and play,type ur projects and mostly hunt the net.It would be great If u said about ur budget.harshie said:True! Never mind.Lets say ur budget is like 55K.These days u can buy 2nd hand lappys with 1~5 warranty from places like Laksiri Laptop solutions,Lanka Laptop house,PC assuranse,PC world,Japansoft etc a whole lot.(Lich ayya pls delete the places if they cant be posted in EK).NEAT lanka,PC house,Lanka Laptop house like places bring in the Brand news too.But the fact is they come with same warranty and as for your needs u can go for a 2nd hand without any trouble.
Specs should be like follows.
Intel Celeron 1.2 GHz(Or more.Centrino would cost more but better)
256MB RAM
Intergrated Video+TV out
30GB HDD
A Combo drive(CD RW+DVD)
Floppy drive(u'll need it!!Faculties love 'em)
IR or Bluetooth
about 3 ports of USB 2.0
2.5 or more hours of battery
Additionally buy a optical mouse and a table light.
(The medical faculty is about 500m from our home.I knw what they use)
This would get u in for 53k.And this would do the things I said.
