This already happened to my wife (wife contract hitiye, no compensation, they just stopped contract renewal)

Of course Yes.
having kids is the biological fullfillment of an individual. the thrill you get from that, you cant get by doing anything.
you can have hobbies, but all that fade with time , you can travel but travelling is getting tireing at a certain point. you can have daily night parties, sex or drinks, those become addiction or specially in sex it becomes pointless at a certain point.
Im telling these with by my many observations , not really with personal experience.
but kids is a every day changing experience, seeing you r own continuation. some one may think it is a burdan, but for the person in it it is part of something he does for himself. it is the worlds strongest bond you make with another human.
basically it is un-explainable that joy until you get it.
Im talking about the default path.
there are always exceptions,
if you get a defective - or metally ill child , it may become the greatest suffering , you may think it is better not having this child.
but if you have some balanced life , and need to sacrifice some things you would like to do for your own kids ; it is totally worth it.
I think if someone die without haveing own kids; it is a sad thing that can happen to the person, because he lived but died without having the greated joy he can experience.
