Lead generation question

Anyone in the lead gen business? I’m thinking of trying lead gen and want to understand the best ways to protect myself when working with clients.

1. Do you usually charge clients upfront per campaign/lead or work on a monthly retainer model?
2. What tools or systems do you use to track and prove lead delivery? &
3. How do you avoid clients refusing to pay after receiving leads?
