Ganja wasn't always illegal in Sri Lanka. It was used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years and has been regarded as the most medicinal plant there is.

Sri Lanka made it illegal because they blindly followed the Western countries that made it illegal without even looking into why they made it illegal.

The reason why Western countries made it illegal was because when the first engine was created in the USA, it was meant to run on ganja fuel (ganja is a MUCH more efficient and cleaner fuel than fossil fuel derived fuels such as petrol, etc). There were some rich, influential oil families in the USA that wanted to profit from the engine, so they forced the government to make ganja illegal as if these corporations were to compete against ganja fuel with fossil fuels, they would stand no chance.

This is the reason why it was made illegal.

Ganja is proven to be completely safe and not physically addictive. It has been proven to cure everything from schizophrenia to cancer, and is GREAT for the body and the mind. Its been proven to NOT kill brain cells and has been proven to cause neurogenesis (creation of new brain cells) and has been proven to improve memory (ganja is used by Alzheimer's patients to prevent their memory from degenerating).

Studies proving how ganja cures all types of cancer, does not cause mental illnesses and cures all types of mental illnesses can be found here:

http://justpaste.it/truthaboutganja

Basically, ganja is capable of curing any illness. It can also be used as a VERY clean and efficient fuel (much, MUCH more efficient and cleaner than fossil fuels such as petroleum), it can be used to create VERY durable clothes and VERY strong rope. It can also be used as food (ganja seeds have the most complete Essential Fatty Acid profile in nature) and it also can be used to create paper that doesn't turn yellow when burnt.

I've only posted a few of the studies. If anyone wants any studies specific to a particular illness, let me know, and I'll post it up. :)

False. Ganja is proven to not be physically addictive in countless studies. If its addictive why is it that when people take Ayurvedic medicine containing ganja they don't become addicted?

Ganja is proven to not have the physical properties required to be addictive.

I smoked ganja to cure my OCD and social anxiety which western 'medicine' was not capable of doing (it made it worse) and have been smoking ganja since.

Physical addiction occurs when the body cannot function normally when you stop using a particular substance (withdrawals).

Anyone who has used ganja will tell you that this DOES NOT happen with ganja. If you stop using it, you don't have any withdrawals.

It is even known that buddha used ganja as a medicine and regarded it as the greatest of medicines (refer to vinaya pataka). Many buddhist monks also agree with this, for example, Rambukwelle Sri Dharmarakkitha Vipassabidhana Mahanayaka Thero, Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabawa Madihe Panghasiha Thero, Palipana DharmaKeerthi Sri Gunarathna, etc.

I should have provided proof.

Study proving that ganja IS NOT addictive:

Preliminary Estimates from the 1993 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, Rockville, MD: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (1994).

It says that among Americans age 12 and over, about 34% had used ganja sometime in their life, but only 9% had used it in the past year, 4.3% in the past month, and 2.8% in the past week. That proves its not addictive. Because if it was addictive, the 'past year', 'past month' and 'past week' figures would be much higher.

I also suggest you do some research on ganja. Its not possible to overdose on ganja.

I've tried it, but i did't addict to that.
The thing is, people want to do some thing over and over again to prove some thing even they don't know(I think) and that's how most of youth addict to smoke and weed etc.

"Ganja was used as a medicine. " I've heard this thing to,but we can't legalize this. Why, present youth do anything to get high these days that's why they even eat hair gel, drink cough syrap like that, So think what would happen if sri lanka legalizes weed
