I agree with your point and i am ashamed by it....

as a better way of understanding of the shia sunni issue.....the shia have proposed the worship of dead "saints" in addition to God....which as a Muslim even i am disgusted about...

then again....most other religions don't have a strong following under arabs...who are even to this day still ruled by stubborn traditionalism....which they try to bring into Islam...because most people corrupt a religion so that they can go back to "beneficial" traditions...or out of sheer laziness....

slavery (as evident with saudi's obsession with bringing workers in...then treating them badly)....

racism (the more native "black" saudis are treated badly by them...infact even people who go for Hajj are treated with contempt)....

paternalism (trying to subjugate women)...and so much more...all qualities utterly against the goals of Islam...

Buddhism was founded in much different environments....the fact that a religion needs to be defended this badly speaks volumes to me as well...
