Hello guys & gals... I'm back :)

On one morning (Apr 24th) as i was downloading some files while having a chat with a friend online it started to rain. I ignored it and continued to stay online & lightning struck! My ADSL modem was fried instantly & the PC switched itself off. The power went out. I knew there was no hope for the modem since i could smell the burnt circuit board on it & was waiting till power comes back to check my computer..

In the evening, after power came I turned on my PC to find out that it is also not working! :baffled: Next morning I took it to my PC shop & they told me that the motherboard is burnt :( I started my hunt for a replacement  Searched for full two days & finally found a shop  They said it would be compatible with my Processor (P4 HT 3GHz - 1MB - 800MHz - Socket 478) but when we test it the machine turns itself off in few seconds :baffled: I was worried! They said the Processor is not working!!! :growl: I checked with many shops & all returned the same results

I gave up hope & returned it back to my PC shop. The guy working there told me that he is confident that the processor is working & we just need to find the right motherboard. I left home & after two days I got a call from Gayan aiyya (guy in the shop) saying my processor works fine but needed to replace the heat sink & cooling fan. I was so glad

Finally I'm back with a new motherboard + modem + cooling fan which cost me nearly Rs.12K(6750 + 3750 + 1200) because I was stupid enough to use the PC in the rain! Luckily i could exchange my old RAMs to DDR2s cause this new board has those & currently I'm using onboard VGA cause I have a AGP card(ATI Radeon 9550 256MB) and this board has PCI Express :baffled: Because of the new cooling equipment my processor is now around 40'C when idle compared to around 55-65'C before.

Final piece of advice : NEVER USE YOUR COMPUTER WHEN IT'S RAINING! UN-PLUG PC & TELEPHONE LINE!

here is my new board specs. It should be P4M900-M4 not sure why CPU-Z says that.

since it's not an INTEL motherboard I could OC it but didn't do much just in case...

actually i have only 768MB left because 256MB is used for VGA :( and still this VGA sucks!!!
