additionally, even the landing and takeoff lights will cause partial blindness and permanent if it is very close.
special aircraft will have another type of external lights, used for search and rescue, or to illuminate the ground from the air, most commonly called as Night Sun..
other than the uses you described, the taxi lights are used to communicate with the Marshaller at night, when there are no radio Comm between the pilots and the ground crew, i.e engine NO 1/2 starting, chocks out/in, brake check, ready to taxi etc..
