But 5 words!

"Best Bang For The Buck"!!!!

He is into gaming, so for the time being I can give my X800 to him. FYI, he is older than Thenura, but he does things relevant to his "age" :P

Cheap Intel dual core CPU with FSB800. Celeron E1200?
Cheap "overclockable" motherboard with graphics. If we can get it up to about FSB300, would be enough.
2x1GB RAM (DDR2-667 is enough)
250GB HDD (cheapest available - he doesn't care for the slight performance differences)
DVDRW
ATX casing with generic PSU would be enough.

Do you have any idea what CHEAP means???
I'm sure he will not fleet the difference between a E4700 and a E1200 when doing normal stuff.

@Sudantha, Better to get a lot of feedback, no matter how good you are with PCs ;).

@Anusha, What about these specs:

Celeron E430
G31M-ES2L
2GB KVR667

Those are the main components, so yeah. Chose the E430 instead of the E1200 because they both have the same amount of cache and I'm pretty sure you can OC the E430 much more than it's stock speeds.

The Gigabyte board has WAY more features than the Foxconn or Intel (lol) and I'm pretty sure you'll come to love it. I'm buying one tomorrow too :D.

Check this link to see the E430@3GHz pwning a [email protected], pretty damn awesome IMO.

But it's a single core, and no matter how cheap the substitute is, i wouldn't go below a dual core these days.

i'll go with the gigabyte then.

E5200
Gigabyte or foxconn G31
?????????
E5200 is too much imo. i mean, Rs.9750 vs. Rs. 5000, and the Cele might do 3GHz without much trouble, and E5200 would barely do 3.3GHz with stock cooler.

Oops, didn't notice that. Then I think it'll be best if you go for the same setup I posted with the E1200 instead.

BTW, unless you want to get a different chipset, the Gigabyte G31 is THE best, so don't go for anything else with the G31 chipset.

Edit: E5200 can easily go past 3.3 with the stock cooler. I went to 3.3 with stock volts and stock RAM volts and it was 100% stable in Orthos, Prime95 and SuperPI. You can easily go past 3.3 with a good board. I was stuck at 270FSB for some reason. Wasn't a FSB hole either.

So I think the E5200 is something for you to look into if that Celly doesn't work out.
