Are you trying to say most people are eating contaminated rice in Sri Lanka ?
Yep, and it's no issue as long as the rice is consumed before the infestation gets to the point that clumps of rice are formed

This is why hoarding rice shouldn't be encouraged, it'll just go to waste

Shelf life of wheat is 6 months ( on freezer it's 1 year )

If stored properly, milled rice will keep almost indefinitely

I didn't talk about growing earlier because most of friends were lazy to do it when I suggested them to grow their own plants. Growing your own plants and raising chickens for eggs is the best thing you can do to overcome food issues. Learn about vertical farming and hydroponic farming if possible.

I didn’t mean about the time duration time you can keep rice.

If that trend follow by the everyone who can afford for it what will happen to people who get daily wages or low monthly wages?

By the way I don’t buy or store anything over the usual quantity at the moment.

Maybe in the US, not Sri Lanka... their manufacturing and packing process kill rice weevils that infest rice from the field itself and/or when rice is in storage - not so in SL - that's why you sometimes find rice weevils even in unopened rice bags
True, best way to avoid this is buy Basmati rice (imported).. I know its frkn expensive. But most of them have shelf life of 2 years from DOM.

Yes let's hope it won't become a trend. The problem is people are afraid of rising food price. The suggestion I gave above is one of the ways to get some temporary relief from it. Whether we like it or not some people will do it for sure .
