LTTE attack TMVP camp

The LTTE attacked a TMVP camp deep in the Batticaloa jungles this morning killing one TMVP cadre and injuring at least eight others.

Why do they have TMVP "camps" in Baticaloa?

I thought TMVP (Tamil makkal widuthalai pulikal) is a political party

So indirectly this says that Karuna's party is a separate 'force' which operates in East.. is it?

Actually there are more than one paramilitary groupes operates in Batticaloa.

Jihad(Armed Islamic Group backed by Al-Queda and operates in Kaatankudy)

EPRLF(Varadhar Sect)

Karuna still act as the military wing leader whereas Pillayan turned to politics.
It is true that they both hold grudge against each other.
I know all this coz I'm from Batticaloa.

we have heard that they have links with the muslim students of the eastern university...

as we mentioned many times, now it is clear that AL-queda sponsored islamic militant groups are everpresent in the eastern province,,

What is you personal opinion about LTTE and the Armed forces in East?
I hope you, as a Tamil living in the East have seen many things which we haven't seen...

Who controls East? GOSL or any other group?

Justification for TMVP or any other group to have "CAMPS" is self defence from LTTE, which is not a totally invalid justification in my eye, but having so many para military groups gooing to be a major obstacle to a sustainable peace (ie. if we have "PEACE" in the first place), but, mushroom paramilitaries are an essential & unavoidable outcome of a prolonged civil unrest/war,

Hence, my view is neutral (As always the case )

depend on the region

examples-

The Kiran-Pulipainthakal- Vadamune region (so-called toppigala region) controls both SLA and TVMP (and some Plote guys)

The digamadulla east are under the SLA and STF. bUT in muslim regions there re civil defence forces which come under the control of home guard force. (but sadly there are jihadists as well, they are almost underground due to the fear toward the STF counter insurgency units)
