    LTTE wants a ceasefire

The LTTE has said it is ready for a ceasefire with the government but did not say if it will comply with the conditions of the government to lay down arms and surrender in order to recommence negotiations.

LTTE political head B. Nadesan, when contacted by TamilNet on Saturday, following reports of Tamil Nadu leaders seeking clarification on the LTTE's stand on a ceasefire has said "there is no hesitation on our side to reiterate our position that we have always wanted a ceasefire."

I think that the government should go in to a cease-fire with the LTTE. That’s right! But with some condition.

    1) Disarm and dissolve its military units.
    2) Negotiations to be held in SL directly with Prabakaran.
    3) No other 3rd party involvement in the negotiation process.

For sure the LTTE would not agree to these conditions. So that’s good. The war can go on as it is going on now. So you will be asking me what’s the point.

In doing so we can tell the international community including India (which is threatening to interfere in this issue) that we as a government tried to enter into a cease-fire agreement, but the LTTE didn’t fully cooperate with it.

    Yes!

This war cannot be won by only weapons. - The same position which I was in, from the begining.

War is the tactic forces used to show that by weapons LTTE cannot earn eelam. Now they should know it for sure.

Now the ball is on our side, and now there has to be negotiations. 'conditionless!' for LTTE.

In other words, as per the above quoted post.

In simple terms, LTTE needs to surrender by laying off their weapons now. Then only there will be a real negotiation process.

Agreed if they really want a CFA then they should completely Disarm ... Even though there is a CFA we should not retreat from our potison unless until they came for settlement ..... once and for all solution

This will not happen ... but they will play with thier kinning tricks so be careful when we make deals with devils

    God Bless Sri LANKA !!!

Aiyo.. No need to ask for ceasefire... when you can LAY DOWN ARMS and take all your annual leave go to some nice place like Nuwara Eliya... or Tamil Nadu (bit smelly but NICE :D and citizenship for freedom fighters guaranteed by Sunglass Thambi!):lol:
