How do you differenciate one part of speech from the others?

Grammar-Parts of speech noun, verb, pronoun, adjective, adverb, preposition, article, conjunction, interjection

If set of words display the same formal properties, especially in their inflections and distribution, then we differentiate that as a seperate word class, or part of speech.

Normally we consider:

the meaning of the word
the form of the word
and the position of the word in a sentence
